EN-GEDI CHILDREN’S HOME JUNE 2023 UPDATE

Greetings dear friends and co-workers in the Lord: God is good all the time, and all the time God is good. I just returned from a two and a half month visit to several States of America where I met with most of my friends and supporters and even made new friends during my travels. I am very grateful to God for helping me achieve 99.9% of my goals. While I was away, my families were all well under the protection of the Almighty God and again, I am very thankful for God’s faithfulness.

My return was an emotional reunion with both the children and the staff – our joy overwhelming. Our God kept them all happy and healthy all through. Thank you for those of you who visited and those who, in various ways, have continued to support En-Gedi Children.

On May 13, a business class from Calvin University USA – my Alma Mater, visited En-Gedi and spent a day sharing their love with the children and the staff. The feedback I got was that they all experienced God’s presence and enjoyed the fellowship at En-Gedi Home. We are always delighted to host those with like minds.

And finally dear beloved, “as each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever”. Amen 1 Peter 4:10 & 11 Prayer Request: Pray that En-Gedi ministry continues to be the model for best practices in the support and care for children with disabilities. Praise God that all the children and the staff are healthy and happy.
I love you all and I thank you for being my friends and co-workers. God’s blessings to all of you.

En-Gedi Children’s Home March 2023 UPDATE

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s
grace in its various forms” – 1 Peter- 4:10. God called me to this ministry of love and mercy and later
gifted me with each one of you – wonderful friends and supporters, and together we serve these
children and many others in our communities. Were it not for your support – like Moses, during the
battle with the Amalekites – Exodus 17:12….my hands would have fallen in fatigue and helplessness.
Your support in various forms, is like Aaron’s and Hur’s hands holding Moses hands up to keep Joshua
and the Israelites army winning. Thank you for being partners with me in this humbling ministry to
special needs children. May our loving and caring God reward you in His own special way.

In Mid-December, a dear brother – Michael Panther and his organization “Living with Hope” visited us
and donated special cerebral palsy wheelchairs to many of our children who didn’t have any
wheelchairs. God has continued to link us up with like-minded organizations for the welfare of His
special children. Glory and honor to Him for divine connections.

During our Christmas Carols Sunday, seven En-Gedi children and 2 of our staff attended our Church and
did a Christmas presentation. Though only 1 child is fluent in speech, the other 6 joined in the singing by
making a joyful noise to our God.

One of our prayer requests is for rain in Kenya. Multiple years of failed rains have rendered havoc in
many parts of the East African region, our country being one of them. I thank God that we have not
lacked water as our borehole supplies enough to use and to grow our own vegetables and fruits – as you
can see in these pictures

Wish you a very blessed year.

EN-GEDI CHILDREN’S HOME CHRISTMAS 2022 GREETINGS

Christmas 2022 Greetings

Dear my friends and co-workers in the Lord:

Receive very warm Christmas greetings from all of us here at En-Gedi Home! As we all enjoy the beauty and the reason for Christmas, I want to give glory and honor to our Lord God for His faithfulness in being with us through the year. He has protected, provided, guided and remained present with us all through. The year has been challenging in many ways ranging from the effects the Covid 19 pandemic, Russia/Ukraine war, effects of climate change causing flooding, droughts, fires, etc. all over the world.

Our country – Kenya has experienced the worst draught in half a century, but by God’s grace, we have survived and we are able to intercede for those affected by such catastrophes. We are also very grateful to God for peaceful national political elections that took place in August. Looking back, we can affirm God’s promises for us as in Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” If you are reading this letter, may you be encouraged that this far God has been your Ebenezer as He has been to us.

Christmas time means family get-together, exchanging gifts with friends and gifting those who are underprivileged – the homeless, the orphans and the widows, the disabled, the sick, the
imprisoned, among others.

En-Gedi, though limited in our abilities, also celebrate as a family with our children, caregivers and we invite willing parents and guardians of our children to join us on December 25 to thank God with us and to share a meal together. In our own small ways,
we are also able to gift others like us and help them celebrate the joys of the season. May you also enjoy a celebratory Christmas season.

We are closing the year with 24 children whose home is En-Gedi and working with many other parents
whose children we are not able to take in. We thank God that all our children have enjoyed a very healthy and happy year. The next couple years our focus expands towards building more local sustainability of En-Gedi ministry by investing income generating projects.

Please accept our appreciation for your continued prayers, financial and material support, visitations and correspondence in all ways. You have encouraged us and we thank you for being one in our En-Gedi family. As you celebrate this Christmas, may the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus; may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace not just now, but in the new Year and throughout your life.

Merry Christmas & a very happy New Year!

In His service,

EN-GEDI CHILDREN’S HOME JUNE 2022 UPDATE

JUNE 2022 UPDATE

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” Matthew 5:16 .

Dear friends and co-workers in the Lord’s ministry: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership with me in caring for God’s special children of En-Gedi Home and beyond. (paraphrased from Philippians 1:2-5)

It has been well with us all here at En-Gedi Home and we give glory and honor to our God. The last three months have been quiet and peaceful with us. We have had some health issues and challenges with some of the children, but we have done our best in response and action and God has done the rest. God’s grace has been sufficient for us. I trust that you all are well and that God has been present with you – even where it has been tough.

One of our highlights this last quarter has been the long awaited connection with BethanyKids from Kijabe. BethanyKids has mobile clinics; does spiritual ministry; surgical training and pediatric surgery. As this relationship develops, we hope to work together in getting our staff trained; in carrying out corrective surgery; in acquiring mobility aids for both En-Gedi children and others in the community around us who need wheelchairs, walkers, etc. I thank God for this new relationship.

The children continue to improve in different ways. When people come to visit us, they express empathy and sometimes compassionate tears when they see the children and staff so happy. For us who live with the children, we have seen and continue to witness the positive changes in the lives of the children. Physical, mental, social and spiritual improvements are evident. Despite their limitations, the children continue to improve in all ways and for this we give God all the glory. Your prayers for us and your financial and material support has kept us well supplied. When the Bible says “and my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” – it means he sends his servants and you have been one of them. Thank you for being obedient.

Now that the pandemic is almost behind us, we are hoping that many of our friends will come to visit us from in and out of the country. We are open to receiving volunteers in the fields of special education, physio and occupational therapy, nursing and related fields in caring for special needs people.

Prayer requests:

  • Pray that the children stay healthy, especially during this cold season.
  • Pray for one of the children that God will save her eye. She has a condition that has blinded her one eye and ophthalmologists are working hard to save the other one.
  • Pray for peaceful national elections scheduled for August 9 this year.
  • Pray that God will give us volunteers to come and work with us.

Thank you all for serving with me in this ministry. May God reward you in His own way.

En-Gedi Children’s Home – March 2022 Update

March 2022 Update

Greetings dear friends and co-workers in the Kingdom: Receive warm greetings from all of us at En-Gedi Home. Our loving and caring God has been faithful to us and I belief to you if you are reading this update. Since the last update in December, we have all been fine, healthy and continuing with our routine. Our children have continued to progress in different ways – some improving in their abilities and some slowing down as they gain weight and grow older. But all in all, En-Gedi remains a Home of compassionate care driven by our belief that every child bears the image of God, regardless of the conditon of their physical body.

Times have been tough for many people in this country and challenges don’t seem to loosen the grip. With the ever rising cost of living and joblessness amongst our graduates, our only hope seems to just be in God, the author and finisher of our faith. I thank God that at En-Gedi Home, we have not lacked in any way. Our needs have been met, many through some of you who God has sent to us. We are thankful that the pandemic is almost a thing of the past now and we pray that no more mutants will be born. We have gone through two years of huge challenges and God has seen us through. Now our attention is on Ukraine and Russia and we are daily interceding for the many Ukrainians who have experienced untold suffering due to the invasion by Russia. Our attention also needs to be drawn to the political campaigns and coming soon elections in August. Let’s not relent in praying for peace in our country.

Just before Christmas, I took on my 23rd child “Pendo” who came from a children’s orphanage that cares for normal children not far from us. Pendo has cerebral palsy, and had stayed at the orphanage for one year after being rescued by early morning joggers from a rail line. She is a lovely girl and has responded beautifully to our love.

And Alex, our youngest with mild cerebral palsy has so much improved in health and speech and recently started learning how to do coloring. He is the youngest at 3.2 years. We are patiently teaching him toileting and saying words.

I want to thank the many of you who bought my book “When God Calls”, and to those who have not yet bought a copy, I still have plenty in store. Just let me know if you want a copy.

Special thanks to all of you who continue to keep us in thoughts & prayer; who financially and materially support us; who visit us and all who write to us. You positively touch lives with me. May our loving God bless you in a very special way. I love you with the Lord of God.
