EN-GEDI CHILDREN’S HOME JUNE 2022 UPDATE

JUNE 2022 UPDATE

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” Matthew 5:16 .

Dear friends and co-workers in the Lord’s ministry: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership with me in caring for God’s special children of En-Gedi Home and beyond. (paraphrased from Philippians 1:2-5)

It has been well with us all here at En-Gedi Home and we give glory and honor to our God. The last three months have been quiet and peaceful with us. We have had some health issues and challenges with some of the children, but we have done our best in response and action and God has done the rest. God’s grace has been sufficient for us. I trust that you all are well and that God has been present with you – even where it has been tough.

One of our highlights this last quarter has been the long awaited connection with BethanyKids from Kijabe. BethanyKids has mobile clinics; does spiritual ministry; surgical training and pediatric surgery. As this relationship develops, we hope to work together in getting our staff trained; in carrying out corrective surgery; in acquiring mobility aids for both En-Gedi children and others in the community around us who need wheelchairs, walkers, etc. I thank God for this new relationship.

The children continue to improve in different ways. When people come to visit us, they express empathy and sometimes compassionate tears when they see the children and staff so happy. For us who live with the children, we have seen and continue to witness the positive changes in the lives of the children. Physical, mental, social and spiritual improvements are evident. Despite their limitations, the children continue to improve in all ways and for this we give God all the glory. Your prayers for us and your financial and material support has kept us well supplied. When the Bible says “and my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” – it means he sends his servants and you have been one of them. Thank you for being obedient.

Now that the pandemic is almost behind us, we are hoping that many of our friends will come to visit us from in and out of the country. We are open to receiving volunteers in the fields of special education, physio and occupational therapy, nursing and related fields in caring for special needs people.

Prayer requests:

  • Pray that the children stay healthy, especially during this cold season.
  • Pray for one of the children that God will save her eye. She has a condition that has blinded her one eye and ophthalmologists are working hard to save the other one.
  • Pray for peaceful national elections scheduled for August 9 this year.
  • Pray that God will give us volunteers to come and work with us.

Thank you all for serving with me in this ministry. May God reward you in His own way.

En-Gedi Children’s Home – March 2022 Update

March 2022 Update

Greetings dear friends and co-workers in the Kingdom: Receive warm greetings from all of us at En-Gedi Home. Our loving and caring God has been faithful to us and I belief to you if you are reading this update. Since the last update in December, we have all been fine, healthy and continuing with our routine. Our children have continued to progress in different ways – some improving in their abilities and some slowing down as they gain weight and grow older. But all in all, En-Gedi remains a Home of compassionate care driven by our belief that every child bears the image of God, regardless of the conditon of their physical body.

Times have been tough for many people in this country and challenges don’t seem to loosen the grip. With the ever rising cost of living and joblessness amongst our graduates, our only hope seems to just be in God, the author and finisher of our faith. I thank God that at En-Gedi Home, we have not lacked in any way. Our needs have been met, many through some of you who God has sent to us. We are thankful that the pandemic is almost a thing of the past now and we pray that no more mutants will be born. We have gone through two years of huge challenges and God has seen us through. Now our attention is on Ukraine and Russia and we are daily interceding for the many Ukrainians who have experienced untold suffering due to the invasion by Russia. Our attention also needs to be drawn to the political campaigns and coming soon elections in August. Let’s not relent in praying for peace in our country.

Just before Christmas, I took on my 23rd child “Pendo” who came from a children’s orphanage that cares for normal children not far from us. Pendo has cerebral palsy, and had stayed at the orphanage for one year after being rescued by early morning joggers from a rail line. She is a lovely girl and has responded beautifully to our love.

And Alex, our youngest with mild cerebral palsy has so much improved in health and speech and recently started learning how to do coloring. He is the youngest at 3.2 years. We are patiently teaching him toileting and saying words.

I want to thank the many of you who bought my book “When God Calls”, and to those who have not yet bought a copy, I still have plenty in store. Just let me know if you want a copy.

Special thanks to all of you who continue to keep us in thoughts & prayer; who financially and materially support us; who visit us and all who write to us. You positively touch lives with me. May our loving God bless you in a very special way. I love you with the Lord of God.

June 2021 Update

JUNE 2021 UPDATES

Receive Christian greetings my friends, friends of the En-Gedi family and co-workers in Christ Jesus!

This update shares what God has continued to do in our lives – both for His special needs children and for all the caregivers. In April, our Omnipresent God healed 2 of our children who were hospitalized with breathing problems –(both boys have lungs defects since birth), one in oxygen for a day, who quickly recovered and returned home to En-Gedi, and the other fighting to stay alive in oxygen for 6 days. During those very stressful days, I had told God that I had done my best and His will be done.

The boy turned around one afternoon – still hooked to oxygen, and laughed loudly which surprised us as we stood around his bed. I honestly thought that that laughter was to say good-bye but, he soon started responding positively to treatment and soon after, returned to En-Gedi Home – fully recovered. Indeed our lives belong to God and He alone sustains us. Another young girl who we had been teaching to self-feed got it all right and started to feed herself. Amen to that! Now we have 5 kids who feed themselves out of the total 21. We have had a wonderful period of joy, peace and great health and we smile to God for that.

When the pandemic hit the world during the first quarter of 2020, no one thought that it would take this long to disappear, except maybe the professional virologists. When God created Adam and Eve, he had occasional fellowships with them. Even after they sinned and went into hiding, God came looking for them. He was a God of fellowship. Much later after human beings fully corrupted themselves with sin
and became alienated from their God the creator, the same God of fellowship came into the world in form of a human being through His son Jesus Christ to restore that broken fellowship. The Covid 19 pandemic came to do the opposite; it has alienated us from those we love and those close to us; it has distanced us (keeping social distance) from those we would love to be close to; and has rendered visitations and travels almost to a halt. Nevertheless, we have every reason to thank God because He has sustained us when so many others have passed on. And although we have not been able to physically be together, we have electronically kept in touch. We give Him all the glory and the honor.

I would like to register my great appreciation to all of you who have kept in touch with us; those of you who pray for us, think of us and wish us well; and all of you who support us with foodstuff and other needed material supplies and all who financially support us. The Lord God has supplied all our needs according to His riches in glory through YOU! Thank you for allowing God to use you for His glory and honor.

Please pray with us for continued health for all of us; continued improvement in the abilities of our kids. Pray that our country will get the much needed Covid -19 vaccines; pray for so many people who have lost their livelihoods because of the pandemic – that God will provide for their needs.

And now may the Lord bless you and keep you; may His face shine on you and be gracious to you; May He turn His face toward you and give you peace – as we serve Him together.

March 2021 Update

MARCH 2021 UPDATES

“I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength for my work. I thank him for considering me worthy and appointing me to serve him” (1 Timothy 1:12)

Dear friends: I trust this finds you all well. The New Year started well for us here and the first two months of the year were not only good for us at En-Gedi, but for the whole country as Covid-19 infections remained very low. As March started and as the vaccine arrived, infections of the new virus started going up steadily and as I write this, the numbers are alarmingly going up. I continue to trust in our Lord God who took us through a very difficult 2020. We are all healthy and optimistic that the future is bright.

In December, we lost our beloved girl Joyce who had joined us early in 2018 at age 4. Joyce was one of the kids that have taught us real patience, especially in feeding. I thank God that I received a child who was near death and she went home healthy and smiling.

In January, I took in 2 new children – ages 3 and 5 and they have adjusted well to the loving environment at En-Gedi. This brought our total to 21 children. Both the new comers are also 100% care. I thank God for the caregivers that God continues to bring my way. They love the children and care for them with passion.

I am grateful that though visits have not been possible for many of you friends and co-workers in this our Lord’s ministry, we have kept in touch through email, WhatsApp, snail mail and phone calls. I thank you so much for your continued support in prayers, foodstuff, material and finances. I thank God for giving me friends like you.

Praises & prayer items: Praise God for keeping all the children well and healthy. We have had some times of some flu here and there, but all now gone. Thank God for giving me committed caregivers who love helping the children. Praise God that we were able to give a loving home to 2 more kids in January (we now have 21 kids). Praise God for wonderful friends who continue to support En-Gedi Children.

Pray that we will continue to be healthy in these tough virus times. Pray also that God will continue to provide for our needs. Pray that travels and visits, both local and international will be possible this year. Finally pray that we will all put out trust in God and strengthen our belief that He has good plans for each one of us.
May the Lord that we serve keep us connected in love and service.

Thanks to you all.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” Eph.2:10

Christmas Greetings December 2020

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS DECEMBER 2020

Christmas greetings dear friends and co-workers in the Kingdom:Indeed, this has been a year of storms but, our God has been, and continue to be with us in the storm. Iam encouraged by Psalms 107:23-30: “Some went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on themighty waters. They saw the works of the LORD, his wonderful deeds in the deep; for he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves. They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away. They reeled and staggered like drunkards; they were at their wits’ end. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, andhe guided them to their desired haven”. The experts, the most experienced, the mighty miracle workershave all been challenged by the Covid – 19 storm. But at His timing, our Lord God will still the storm. We are all well and healthy and this stormy year is the year our children have been most healthy in the 6years we have been operational. We have not lacked in anything: God has all through supplied ourneeds by sending you our friends, and many new acquaintances to us with the needed supplies. He hasbeen and continues to be our Ebenezer. May His Name be praised! We have seen several improvements with our children in their abilities, and most outstanding has been with our girl Lucky. She fully became toilet trained, learned how to say potty and said goodbye to diapers (except at night). She also completely stopped drooling; and is learning to walk with a walker and on parallel bars. Of the 20 children at En-Gedi,only one child is able to talk fluently and Lucky has become #2 in learning how to talk. She talks a lot and now we can decipher about 30% of what she says. Again we thank God for improved abilities

May our good God bless you all in special ways, and may you continue to experience His presence inyour lives, in your families and in all your endeavors. As we say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you, please join us in thankingGod for His goodness, His mercies and His love for all of us. Let us continue to share the joy of touching lives and making this world a better place to live for God’s children and adults alike.

In His Love,
